ShineWhite Frequently Asked Questions
If you can't find an
answer to your question here, just ask your tanning
consultant on your next visit.
Is
ShineWhite Safe for my teeth enamel?
Yes. ShineWhite is safe for your tooth enamel, and though
it has been clinically proven to cause minimal
sensitivity, some mild gum irritation may occur, but
normally subsides within 15 minutes to an hour.
Is
ShineWhite approved by the FDA?
Yes. The FDA has regulated teeth whitening as a cosmetic
procedure, (as long as it is self-administered).
ShineWhite is a self-administered procedure.
How
quickly will I see results?
Clients typically see a 5 to 10 shade difference after the
first 30 minute treatment. The gel continues to work for
the next 24 hours.
I
used to Smoke and have very yellow teeth. Can I go longer
than 20 minutes safely?
Yes. Clients can go up to 1 hour per treatment. The
ShineWhite Machine has customized settings for sensitive
teeth – (high, medium and low settings).
How
often will I need to do the ShineWhite Treatment?
It will vary, depending on the Individual’s lifestyle.
Typically, we recommend every six months, however, some
Clients are more prone to teeth staining, for example:
those who consume coffee, tea, red wine and smoke, may
require more frequent treatments.
Will
it affect my dental work? (caps, crowns, veneers etc.)
No. It only whitens natural teeth, not dental work such as
crowns, caps, fillings, and veneers. However, it will
normally remove any stains on the veneers, caps or crowns.
It will not harm dental work.
Can
children use it?
Consult your dentist before use on children under the age
of 12.
I
see spots on some of my teeth, since I have done the
ShineWhite Treatment. What has caused the spots?
The ShineWhite treatment can temporarily accentuate spots
on the teeth after the treatment. The spots will normally
subside within 24 hours. A number of factors can lead to
the development of white spots on teeth. Sometimes these
spots are caused by nutrition, genetics, or an excessive
intake of fluoride, while other times they become evident
after braces have been removed. Some children also develop
white spots on their teeth as they are developing.
Can
I do the ShineWhite Treatment with sensitive teeth?
Yes. The ShineWhite Treatment is done in 10 minute
intervals, and has a high, medium and low setting
available. We will ask each Client if they have
experienced any sensitivity on their teeth in the past. If
they have, we will start the session on a medium setting,
and monitor the Client during the session, for
sensitivity. The ShineWhite gel is administered to the
front of the teeth only. Sensitivity is normally created
when the gel is administered to the front and the back of
the teeth, simultaneously.
I
have an unfilled cavity and a chip on my front tooth that
is already sensitive. Can I still do the ShineWhite
Treatment?
We recommend the individual be treated with a restorative
procedure by their dentist, prior to the ShineWhite
Treatment.
Are
there any foods or beverages I should avoid after the
ShineWhite Treatment?
If possible, try to avoid the use of tobacco and teeth
staining foods and beverages such as tea, coffee, red
wine, colas, red meat, tomato paste, and dark green
vegetables for 2 days after the whitening process.
(Minimum of three hours) Using a straw with the above
mentioned beverages is also helpful.
What
type of maintenance do you recommend after my ShineWhite
Treatment?
Eating fresh crunchy veggies and fruits such as: carrots,
broccoli, celery, apples, strawberries, and cucumbers can
actually help naturally whiten your teeth. Foods like
spinach, lettuce and broccoli prevent staining by creating
a film on the teeth that acts as a barrier to stains.
We recommend yearly visits to your dentist.
